I assume you're referring to texts like this at http://www.archive.org/details/uscopyrightrenew11800gut. Looks like it's just for books, as far as I can tell.

That is the correct text. It does include film.

PG's own explanation of what's in the 1950-1977 combined renewals list (see here: http://onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu/webbin/gutbook/lookup?num=11800) states that film renewals are only included for the year 1950. That would mean only renewals of works originally copyrighted in 1922 are available in this listing.

You can buy rather expensive "Superlists" showing motion picture copyright renewals. Most of them contain inaccuracies and, of course, don't indicate whether public domain films contain elements still under copyright.
